Very true and hopefully leaders are encouraging more diversity within the ranks. I do believe with time we will be more accepting. I think right now, it's still early. I remember back in a few years back assigned in a mechanized infantry, it was like people were talking about getting out the army, or reclassifying to different branches to avoid having to deal with a female. I was truly shocked and disgusted hearing that. Ultimately, females will be assigned to those typical all-male units regardless and hopefully leadership help soldiers to understand the BIG picture in all of this. Everybody brings something to the table regardless of race, gender or religious background. Something that EO rep and leaders alike, will have to ensure those policies are upheld.

Does it matter? The decision has been made. We already seen how this exact thing plays out when the Women's Army Corps (WAC) was disbanded in 1978 and the units integrated. Of course there will be resistance to the change and predictions of doom and gloom. In the end the military will adjust as it always does and eventually it will just be the norm and no one will give it another thought.

We have been fighting religious misguided males that hate and fear trained and educated women and girls since 2001, women are force multipliers when properly trained and used, so the answer to your question comes from Black history, because the same was said about Blacks. Another way to answer you, is if your are married train your wife to shoot and stab then cheat on her!

We (people) have been fighting religiously misguided people since before the beginning of currently recorded history. Any one can be a 'force multiplier' when properly trained and used.
The "For Want of a Nail" proverb illustrates and highlights three military force multipliers - Personnel, Logistics and Communications; and indirectly a fourth - Maintenance.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Good article I notice that the article is about Soldiers ARMY, you know land fighters, I have no knowledge about NAVY stuff, except for the NAVY Corpsman and the Sea Bee that went out the wire with us, because the other CPO's told me it was not in their job description.

I don't think that the few women that have taken the plunge are ready for it either.
