Here is the reg for Marines

8. Body Hair. No female Marine will be required to remove
body hair except where leg hair protrudes beyond the appropriate hosiery per
subparagraph 3027.5, or causes a visibly uneven texture under said hosiery.
MARADMIN 504/07

So I guess if she is really hairy then yes it can be required.

The fact that this is explicitly spelled out in regulation means at some point, some poor hairy estrogen filled bastard fit the description. Gotta love the Marines.

Yep. The Corps has a reg for everything. I'm surprised they don't tell the ladies what they can't shave.

Back in the old Corps, we recruits were told we were to shave daily, "Everything from your ears to your collar bones." Specified as an exception, "You will NOT shave your eyebrows".

It doesn't mandate that they shave anything! Which is unfair, because they can grow beards and we can't...

I had a female soldier that had a beard that was enviable by SF standards... it was creepy...

SFC....preach. I have seen many females with what could charitably be called "5 o'clock" shadow. I've even seen a few with moustaches that would put Billy Dee Williams to shame. What's worse, IMHO, are those who have that one single hair on their chin that is 4-5 inches long. WTF??? just pluck that thing out and be done with it.

Do you have a story behind this question?
*crosses fingers*

There isn't a reg mandating it although there probably should be. It weirds me out when women don't shave their legs and it weirds me out when men do shave their legs lol.

What about if the female in question does not shave because religious belief? I had a similar question at a Senior Enlisted Board. What would I do if one of the females on my section had a mustache that was visibly overgrown?

There is no right or wrong way to approach this exept with tact and in private. My response was to pretty much address the Soldier in private and find out if there was some religious belief involved. I also asked the board members if it would really makes a diference to someone in the chain they need to explain why and what reg is the female violating.
