Is there a TIG/TIS requirement for an E4 to go to the promotion board?

You have the internet, right? How much effort did you put into to find the answer before running into a wall? Hopefully, you will put more effort into studying for the board than you have in this situation.

While other NCO’s that have answered are correct in you being able to google or answer to find questions, I will revert from that because there is no need to beat a dead horse. I can tell you, however, that I came in as an E4 and did my research to find out the same thing. Once I hit 36 months, I went to the board. I had heard that there were waivers as well but looked into it and found that there were none. Not at that time at least. It could be different now but you should look into that for sure.

PZ: 36 months TIS - 8 months TIG
SZ: 18 months TIS - 6 months TIG

Cuurent reg: specialists with 36 months in service and eight months in grade, or sergeants with 84 months in service and 10 months in grade, will automatically go before a local board.
