I live in the barracks and no longer eat at the DFAC due to personal health reasons. Can I opt out of the $300+ payments each month?

Not unless you have documentation/justification to receive separate rations pay. Have you spoken with your CoC about this?

SPC (Join to see) - Then you have your justification right there. Well, the start of it anyway. Here are my recommended steps:
1) See your PCM on base and request allergy blood work tests.
2) If the blood work comes back stating you are allergic to all of/damn near all of the items that are served in the DFAC, then
3) You take that and work with your CoC to submit a 4187 to start separate rats so that you can purchase foods that you are not allergic to.

SPC (Join to see) Question, if DFAC food is not compatible with your body, how would you eat while deployed?

I just ate MRE’s the entire time I was in JRTC, so I would just do the same in a deployment

SPC (Join to see) I am surprised that you can handle a diet of MREs, but have problems with DFAC. I suggest you explore a potential medical dietary problem.

SPC (Join to see) - No one is going to hand you three MREs a day for 9-12 months of a deployment.

Being allergic to foods is one thing, them not agreeing with you is another. You will need to have extensive allergy testing to determine the root cause of your issue. If food is just not agreeing with you, you may suffer from IBS. IBS however is not justification for separate rats.
