Is there anyway to have a Change of assignment?

I have just received projections to Ft Drum however i really do want to explore other duty station and be placed in a Mechanized unit. My question is there anyway to have my projections changed from drum to Ft Hood? Would i have to reenlist for it would i have to call branch? Any guidance is welcomed

Work through your CSM to call branch. I don't think asking for Hood is a bridge too far.

Once you’re placed on assignment you can’t change it, especially orders for Fort Drum due to Drum being a Priority 1 assignment. Unless you have assignment of choice as a reenlistment option, you’re at the needs of the Army when being considered for an assignment.
Army stabilization time period at a duty location (CONUS) is 36 months, with that being said, it’s best to contact branch once you’re on station 24-30 months so you can have some input on your next assignment. Good luck to you....

Branch placed you on assignment to a unit with a need for your grade and MOS, they aren’t going to change it because of what you want

Unless you can give them a good reason why it's beneficial for the Army. The 36 time on station was my biggest challenge. I think they were projecting me for Lewis or Bragg, called them up told them that I was a SPC fresh from A-stan spent time in a stryker BDE and an armored BDE at 1st AD, and already being jump qualified knowing there's a slot in Italy, can he throw me on orders for the 173rd. Got the word a week later that it was green lit.
