Well the saying is perception is reality. If it looks like she is checking her phone, then she is checking her phone. Either way, the lack of discipline is disturbing.

Are cadets issued some sort of special gloves which work with touch screens?

Lol no -- maybe she is using a Blackberry she was issued. Don't those still have buttons?

The gloves may not be, but they make a film you can apply to any fabric that will allow the glove to function with touch screens. I have it on my mountain bike gloves. Can not see it and works awesome.

You were in ASA or another similar unit. A friend, SGM of an ASA unit told he had no problem w/ drug users. His troops were the drug dealers!

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 I was in ASA units, twice at the schoolhouse (once in AIT and once as an SQT developer and AIT instructor) and twice in field units. My ASA field units were different than most ASA units, though. We were very small detachments in direct support of a separate Infantry brigade and an Infantry division. There was simply no drug use or peddling, except for our exceptional use of alcohol when off duty and not in the field. I was friends with a lot of people at the schoolhouse as both a student in the barracks and a staff and instructor, and I never saw any indications of drug use or dealing at all. So my experiences were quite different from your friend's. The whole regularity of 5-year bring up background investigations and constant counterintelligence overwatch was a pretty good deterrent to any criminal behavior.
Now, if he was talking about in Vietnam, I certainly heard rumors that some of the large ASA units had some drug distribution capabilities going on there, but I had no first-hand knowledge of that. I also never worked at any of the large ASA Field Stations, which were apparently different worlds all to themselves, but if they were selling drugs there, they were selling them to their own kind, because no one else was around, except maybe in Augsburg.

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 - That wouldn't surprise me at all. I heard rumors of this, but never saw anything like it, myself. I'm sure your friend has way better information than I.

Schools that are supposed to make our military officers is getting pretty pathetic , we have the black Cadets with fist in the air and now we have a woman cadet marching in formation checking her cell phone . Wow , our military has been getting destroyed in the last 8 years with cut's of good people when the under qualified get's in .

Sad state of affairs in our military today, this is an individual who will be taking charge of a platoon in the very near future and she doesn't have the discipline to do the right thing when everyone is looking, how bout when she is "hidden" from public view?!!
