Veterans have been bestowed with a day to honor our fellow members since 1919. While the majority of us inside these hallowed halls believe this is a significant day and deserved respect - it seems so many in the outside world have fallen off the wagon and choose to disregard a day we hold is high esteem. Why has a day so full of meaning and history been relegated by so many in the public today as nothing more than a 'sale day'?

I believe it is incredibly important. However, if that question was asked to the public these days they would have a laundry list of reasons why they find it offensive.

I agree but contend it matters not to me the general public's opinion on this matter. As long as we support each other there will always be a veterans day!

To "them", it's the same ole day... To "us"? It's so much more as we personally understand and carry with us its importance, its reasons and its meanings...
I really don't care about "them" and what they think as long as "we" remember...
To me? Than's what matters most; ensuring we remember each other when others find reasons to forget, after all, WE also need to remember that WE are still a part of this great nation that, at some point, we swore to defend, and that this day is designated for US not them...
And besides, when others start to forget, and they will, history has shown there will be enough of us old crotchety Dysfunctional Veterans around to ensure the they never get a total memory loss! :)
To All Who Have Served, Have A Thoughtful And Most Memorable Veterans Day!

Only the 1% that serve and their families grasp the meaning. For the rest it is just another a day off.
