SGT John Rauch, she is living her convictions. More power to her! I believe she is absolutely correct. I personally would not go to jail for it. God did not want to grant the children of isreal divorce, however he allowed Moses to give them circumstances of when to remarry. Well homosexuality is different than divorce, but when mixed in with the law of the land we have to abide by the laws to an extent. I believe homosexuality is a sin just like murder, stealing, lying, etc. We don't need to discriminate or treat them cruel. I really don't buy the born into homosexuality because too many people "decide" to turn homosexual after a bad experience. Sexual desires for the same sex have to be resisted. Politicians and the chief justices decided that marriage is between two human beings and I definitely disagree. But we must follow the laws, don't mean we agree or sanction the error in their ruling. I am free to voice my objection to homosexuality as an "acceptable" sin. No sin is acceptable lying or murder all will get us to Hell. In fact, simple disobiedance will get us to hell because of adam and eve disobeying God's command not to eat from the tree of life. This is where our problems started.

SGT John Rauch - Thank you. I read it in two versions now. I see where the stress comes from. But as in reading I see how the scripture addresses an all-around wicked group on individuals.. interestingly enough we give "covenant breakers" unlimited chances, while other "sinners" not even a first chance.

Or you truly believe that all people that are "disobedient to parents" should not have the right to marry either then? Or "haters of God" should now have same rights as christians? Or we only focus on the homosexuals? You see how bizarre this witch hunt becomes?

SGT Martin Lundberg, you have good questions about the right to marry. Now, look at it this way. You remember the old saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words would never hurt me" On the side of the issue of right to marriage. Marriage is given substance by how our laws recognizes individual couples for things like filing taxes, receiving authorized deductions, and so on.

Now, think about your unit. Just like the barracks soldiers do not like being singled out when it is time to get family separation pay, but when they are married they can make as much money or be eligible for the benefit like their married counter parts.
The reason why the Supreme Court decision is so effective is because for the first time in recorded history marriage is redefined for what purpose? In my opinion, to give the economic benefits to people in love the same type of legal institutional status such as marriage.

One has to ask. Throughout the history of man. How is it that marriage was only between a man and woman? Even now, how is it possible to conceive when the couple in love is the same gender? No, I believe that it is a matter of money and getting the social pressure off their back.

They hijacked the civil rights movement to get ammunition to fight the "bigotry" aspect of their lifestyle. Think of this, if they can legitimize their lifestyle by having the highest law of the land to include them in the definition of marriage, it is a powerful tool.

Now coming out of the closet is protected by hate crimes and accepted as God sanctioned lifestyle by some major religious organizations (which I do NOT agree and when God comes to cast His judgement on His business understand... religion is not man's business. Man serves their god. My God is the God of Abraham, David, and Moses etc..) and He has never sanctioned such lifestyle.

1stLt Nick S, the bibical form of marriage has changed in terms of the make up of number of wives or mistresses. I cannot explain this and don't agree with having more than one wife or marrying my brother's widow as a cultural obligation.

In addition, never having a misstress. One thing that is common in all family formats is the genders of the mates. Man and multiple women.

In terms of types of marriage on this powerpoint, you can add our Supreme Court's decison that the institution of marriage includes same genders. As far as i know, this is the first time across multiple cultures and nationalities the concept of marriage includes same gender couples.

Listen, marriage is strictly between 4 men and a woman! Even when completely out of order!

.. that's three men too many!

Or 2 men and a woman, in this day and age. But I agree with the premise. If someone wants to have multiple spouses. Go for it.. as long as there is not tax breaks applicable to more than one.. oh, to hell with it. Let's skip all the tax perks of any kind of marriages. Why should people that are lucky enough to found someone that they want to spend the rest of their lives with (or a few years, in the case of Kim Davis) pay less to the government anyhow?

If this were me in this position, I would resign. I could always protest it legally after resigning. I have an Aunt who said she would never shop at BI-LO again because they started selling beer and wine. I asked where do you buy your gas? Her reply was well the closet convenience store when I need it. I said and which one of them does not sell beer and wine? She said I see your point.

Your misguided and hateful beliefs should never leave your own mind. She'll hopefully be unemployed within the month so she can reflect on how much of a bigot she is.

so christian beliefs are hateful because they take a stand on something? that is a hateful misguided idea in itself. people need to understand that you can hate the sin without hating the sinner.

Down vote me all you want SGT, it doesn't change the fact that she let her own bigotry influence her profession and it's impacting her life negatively. Under oath, she was required issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples and she failed to do so- she is no way in the right. You downvoted me because you disagree, not because what I said is wrong.

Mike Huckabee just brought this into the Republican race:

"Mike Huckabee called a Kentucky clerk who is refusing to issue gay marriage licenses Wednesday to offer his prayers and support for "not abandoning her religious convictions."

The Supreme Court turned away a request by Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis to be excused from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, but the clerk continues to refuse to issue those licenses, calling the requirement a violation of her religious liberties.

[Supreme Court rejects county official’s request in gay-marriage case]

"I spoke with Kim Davis this morning to offer my prayers and support. I let her know how proud I am of her for not abandoning her religious convictions and standing strong for religious liberty. She is showing more courage and humility than just about any federal office holder in Washington," Huckabee said in a statement."

Ought to be noted that Graham, Fiorina, and Kasich all came that, while they don't agree with the SCOTUS ruling, Davis needs to comply with it.

I say eliminate ALL state involvement in marriage. I shouldn't have to have some third party's permission. What matters is what the people involved want. Everyone else, BUTT OUT!!!!

SGT Bryon Sergent - no, it wasn't an issue when she was elected but it is now and its still part of her job desc, maybe a revised part, but part of it. with any job, at times we have to adapt to it, we sure did have to in the military. Like I said she doesn't have to like it, but if she is not going to do what she's being paid to do, than she needs to do something else.

Well I don't give in to the Military. I pray! I don't force MY religion on others. But I will SPEAK of it. I will believe what I believe. I don't hate homosexuality, but I believe that it is wrong. I have to tolerate it but don't have to like it. I don't bash. I think every man and woman will have to answer for the things that they have done in there lives. I am one of those. Am I a perfect Christian. NO there was only one of those and he sits at the right hand of God. Just because that is the way I believe DOESN'T make me wrong or anything else for that matter. Just like if someone else DOESN'T believe the way I do DOESN'T make them WRONG. I don't push my believes on others why should they be allowed to push there's on me. That is what makes me mad. They(anybody) Think that they are right and push there beliefs on me but when I disagree I am a BIGOT or gay basher, or whatever else. That is what FREEDOM of expression is to me. Also what makes this a great country. We don't have to agree on each others beliefs. But Don't fight and argue over it or become violent or hateful! THAT IS MHO.

Either do your job or go elsewhere that is more suited to your liking.
The Mayor and Governor have let this become a farce by their inaction to remove this person from office for refusing to do her job based on her religious beliefs. I could see if this courthouse did not issue marriage licenses, then no problem they have to go elsewhere. So what is next for her, refusing building permits to a gay couple because they are gay?
