Most I didnt get til I joined the guard and started deploying. Didnt get awarded the CAB during OIf II due to stupid politics. Also didnt get my Bronze Star because "I was only an E-5"!! Grrrrrr

Your deployments are many and impressive SGT Bryon Sergent.
Mine, Just means that I was in the Army for a very long time.
When I was younger, it was all about medals, badges, tabs, etc....
Around the time I was a senior Captain, recently back from Somalia, I was getting my Class As ready and my son (5 or 6) asked me what all that stuff meant, so I explained. I also had an epiphany, in that none of that stuff really mattered in the big scheme of things.

No, Sir you have more than I do. It's not that I need or want to show off or get respect. Just to show, I'm not a wet behind the ear sergeant, that doesn't know his head from a hole in the ground. I had a Platoon Sergeant when I returned to service walk into a conversation that was being had. He stated that I needed to stop spreading lies that I wasn't in Desert Storm and that I was a PFC and didn't know anything. That Stolen Valor was a punishable crime at the time. With respect I told him I wasn't lying. When he tried to lock my heals, I asked him hang on just a second and could I show him something. He said yes and I grabbed my DD-214's and showed him that I wasn't lying. From then on I was treated differently! The thing that sticks out the most is a Colonel with an NCOPD Ribbon.
