Learn your job the best you can and always try to do it the best you can and always maintain your integrity . It won't always help you get ahead But it will always have the guy in the mirror smile back .

Some of these products were manufactured for over 20 years. New parts and better test equipment were introduced during that time. Some people didn't pay attention to the changes. They went bankrupt.

What was made 20 years ago what is made today and what will be made tomorrow Has nothing to do with anything if you don't have it . A Point you seem oblivious to . The entire point is to do the best you can with what you have . What you may have later could have but don't is completely irrelevant .

SFC Terry Wilcox - I didn't have any AIT. I went from Basic, straign to supporting the Weathervision system at Ft. Rucker/Carin Airfield. It was a combinatio of CATV, Microwave links, weather instruments and TV cameras. for the flight school.

I went as far as I did because followed these rules: Stop, Look & Listen. STOP being a jerk to yourself, LOOK to your seniors for advice and LISTEN to your seniors. If you do that you can go far. I ended up with 23 years and loved all of the time I did.

Not gotten married as a Lcpl., been more financially responsible and invested properly. As far as military service itself, not a damn thing!

My first full day at the Fort Knox Reception Station, we were asked two or three times, whether anyone wanted to volunteer to be a Chaplain's Assistant. I didn't raise my hand because 1) I didn't know what a Chaplain's Assistant was, and 2) my friends told me not to volunteer for anything.
Thinking back, maybe I should have raised my hand.

One of my brothers-in-law was a Chaplin's Assistant. Everything I heard about all the crap he was exempted from, and the additional privileges he was granted kind of made me envious... but when he got out, he apparently believed that he deserved special treatment in civilian life as well. He worked in the family business, didn't earn any privileges, but got them because he was the oldest (and only) son. When his dad died, he ran a previously very successful company into the ground, filed BK and his mother and 4 sisters were denied what the father had intended for them. By the way, his dad flew Dauntless Dive Bombers in the Pacific theater (a very handsome man with balls of steel).

When I was stationed at Albrook AFB in Panama I volunteered all the time. I got to visit every country in central and south America. I also got to drive for Brig. Gen Jimmy Stewart for a week. I was on the security team for President Ford for a week also. When I was in Okinawa I volunteered to spa with Chuck Norris because no one else wanted to. I was a black belt. I had my fun for sure. Never be afraid to volunteer.

I was Jeep driver, truck driver, bus driver, etc. in OSUT at Ft. Knox. The other candidate didn't want the responsibility, I didn't want to march everywhere. Guess who sat on his butt, while everyone marched Point-A to Point-B, loaded/unloaded, then marched somewhere else...?

Don't let anyone tell you you're not smart or could ever be successful. You will have a lot of obstacles ahead of you, but you're kind, caring, and smart. You will accomplish wonderful things, meet many great people, and travel to your heart's content. Be proud of yourself, and never give up!

SSgt Kathleen Fleitz - Thank you. I poured myself into my work, and learned more areas of Electronics than I had already worked. That MOS I was awarded was directly convertible to the FCC First Phone license which one of the most sought after in the industry. I mantained the Weathervision system at Ft. Rucker, and did some RADAR work. After that I was an engineer for AFRTS.. I was in an E5 sot at Ft. Rucker while only E2.

I totally agree with SSgt Fleitz, When I was in High School because I really didn't like school my counselor told me I would never amount to anything. Well I got the last laugh because when I got to my first base I got my GED, then I went to night school. I went to the NCO academy at Maxwell AFB and got a diploma in Logistics'. Now 50 years later I have a masters degree in Astrophysics', a masters in computer science and a bachelor's in religious studies. Now it could have been my counselors way of kicking me in the butt but who knows. I kept on trucking.

MSgt George Murray - I think a lot of counselors try to push students into fields they are interested in, rather than where they belong. One tried to steer me into law school, another into medicine. I stuck with Electronics, where I was already working, after school.

I would remine my self to get more exercise and take better care of myself. I would also tell myself to quit smoking right now.
