I would’ve probably told myself to take my National Guard career a bit more seriously.

I’m the only person who’s held me back.

I wasn't in great physical condition when Ientered the service in 1966. I would work harder to improve my physical condition. When you are in better phsical condition you feel better, and training is so much easier.

knew an old machinist who once said: "When I was young I invested in houses and lots. Cathouses and lots of whiskey!"

Talk the training and testing more serious!! I never studied for a test, but still advanced after each test! At the CPO level, I always passed the tests, but was an early select with 7 years in, made it at 10, SCPO at 14 and MCPO at 18.

I only took one test in the Army. Not only didn't I get to study, they didn't tell me what it was. I was just told to be at the testing center at 6:00AM on a Saturday morning. It was the hardest Electronics test at the time, and I was told that no one had ever passed it without taking the three year school. I completed the 2.25 hour test in 17 minutes, and I scored over 93%.
