Time travel is what books and the imagination are for. As insane as it is, the 21st Century is my time.

I have never been sorry for joining the military. It was right for me at the time. I think back on it and am proud to have had the courage to do so.

Not all the way back to when I was first drafted, but after I had become an officer by completing OCS. I was offered a Regular Army commission by my BN CO as a 1LT. My younger self would NOT have married that lovely German girl, and would have taken that commission. I had friends that retired as LTCs, and had I survived various combat assignments, suspect I would have done as well (or better).

I went to Germany for my first duty station, and I would tell myself: Don't be dumbass, your not invincible, don't run full blast while playing flag football on ice for PT. Don't drink SO much, enjoy the sights, save more money, and re-enlist and extend for another 6 years.

I would tell myself that the decision I made then was the same one I would make today! Stand tall, stay true to my convictions, and be proud to represent my country in the uniform I wore!
