There are a lot of great discount and resources available for Military Appreciation Month. We ask you to share some of the best ones so your brothers and sisters can enjoy them too.

A lot of places give discounts if you just ask. Locally Wendy's Restaurants do, Burger King does at one location but not another (so I don't go there!). Michaels Craft Stores (15%), Lowes (10%). Local Home Depot said they don't (So I go to Lowes!). You won't know unless you ask!

I've never been in a Home Depot that didn't give a 10% Military Discount. I don't shop at Menard's because they don't.

Good comments. Many food establishment give free lunches on Veterans Days along with normal discount to veterans each day. I think we can gain a lot of deals if we ask.

If your local Home Depot doesn't honor your Military Service by offering a 10% discount, you should write/call/email the main office. I emailed the main office about 2 stores in my area a couple of years ago. The response I received was an apology saying that ALL Home Depots were authorized to provide a 10% discount to Active Duty and Veterans. I was told that they notified the 2 stores and to call (they provided their phone number) if I was denied again. I took that letter with me just in case but did not have to worry because the next time I went and asked for my discount, all I had to do was show my ID.

Only some Home Depots, and they have a long list of exclusions: https://members.veteransadvantage.com/offers/home-depot-10

I’ve always liked the Home Depot and Lowe’s 10% off deal for veterans.

No problem with Home Depot, I have the retired gray card and they always give us a discount, even the on my wife's dependent's card. I have the Lowe's card but there is a problem with it. I was told to call the company to get the discount re activated.

SPC Deon Holmes - Not any more. If you are denied at HD, call the home office with your receipt in hand because they will want to know the store number. They will contact the store manager and set him/her straight. What sucks about HD is if you buy online & want the 10% discount, the rep will have to do a return and then ring it up again to get you the discount. So if you want to buy online to pick up or have it delivered, LOWE'S is the way to go, if you registered with them.

I use Lowe's discount all the time. I rarely go to Home Depot because theirs is harder to use.
Sometimes a store will tell me about the discount. I usually ask; it saves me the sales tax!

Lowe's sets up an id number for you to use that automatically brings up the discount. The automated checkouts even thanks you for your service.

lowes id is normally your phone number...they used to use ID card but got away from that a few yrs ago...I know that lowes will price match home depot and will give the price match or 10%, whichever is greater

If you register with Home Depot, your 10% discount is automatically applied.
If you have the app and are enrolled, you just have to scan your Virtual ID on your smartphone at checkout while shopping in store. It is automatically be applied to your cart when shopping online.

LCDR Charles Williams - That must be recent within a year or so; I did not know that. They did not have it before. Plus they did not apply the discount to all items. Do they do that now? Lowes does.

Lowes is just like Home Depot, if it is on sale past a certain point it will not be discounted (at least here in Southern Mississippi as it has happened several times).
From the Lowes website about the Military Discount: "Discount applies to eligible items only, cannot be combined with other promotions, discounts, or markdowns, on previous purchases, services, or gift cards, and is for personal use only." This is similar to Home Depot.
