Military downsizing has affected many of us over the years. Is it appropriate to "pink slip" a soldier while still deployed?

Downsizing the force via troops in combat zones?
I just came across this article and found it interesting. I would think that they would stray away from those that are deployed so as to not disrupt combat operations. What are your thoughts?

That would just make too much sense. And God forbid our government do something that actually makes sense.
No, that is a horrible way to treat a deployed soldier. Not to mention their family members. I would also think that it violates USERRA.
