It has been six years since my last deployment, and miss the sense of purpose of doing my job downrange.

Indeed I do!!!!! I deployed twice, then had to have ope heart surgery when I was 37. As a result, I am C-Coded which means no deployment. I hate it, and would love to deploy in a minute! I often feel guilty, like I am not doing my part.

That's what I miss waking up with a mission and a purpose. I remember when I didn't need to set an alarm to get up and go to work I looked forward to getting up. The bonds I built with brother and sister's in the suck are great

I honestly would have trouble trusting a soldier who didn't miss being deployed. Do I miss the deployment I went on? Nope. Do I want to go again? Yes.

It's because home is not what you see as normal anymore. It's hard, as the years go on it gets a little easier but you’re never going to see the "Home" normal the same way. A lot of the things everyone takes for granted will piss you off. Take a breath, start working with wood building stuff, find a new job outdoors, etc. Sorry brother you’re not alone and knowing that does help.

It's strange...When I'm deployed, I'm miserable and all I can think about is how bad I want to leave. But once I'm back in Garrison, all I can think about is how bad I want to be back over there.
My wife hates the idea that i get the 'deployment itch' so often, and she's unsure how I'm going to keep my sanity with me about to go on a special assignment where I'm not going to deploy for a minimum of two years.

I do miss it. Sometimes it sucked and I was homesick, but I would love to deploy again.

Personally, I miss the simplicity and diversity of it. 21 months downrange and I have never done my job as a 91B on deployment. Everything I have done as been geared towards either "light units" or what is now the Advising mission.

I can remember when I was told I was being deployed I was so scared. But when it was time to come back home it was even scarier. I never wanted to come home and still don't want to be here. I miss my unit and the comrodery between them because the bond is truly the strongest I have ever felt. I love my military and hats off to all past present and future veterans. Without people like us where would this country be
