I retired almost 12 years ago as a 31W Switch Systems Chief. What is this MOS now? I also held 31R (just found that it is now 25Q). Looks like I need to update my profile. I was in a EAC Battalion back then.

All the old 31 series MOS's have been converted to 25 series. The 25Q has had there task list expand pretty signicantly and are now not only doing LOS/HCLOS but also Satellite Communications with STT as part of the WIN-T systems. They are also doing some computer networking in their CPN team positions.

Thanks for posting. I am sure lots have changed with new technologies out now. I believe my old battalion had moved from EAC to SME going away from all the 5-ton trucks to shelter mounted HMMWVs'. I am guessing that the 31W is now 25W.

That should be MSE and not SME. Looks like WIN-T replaced MSE.

25Q is basically 25 everything. Although I keep hearing that the whole 25 series is being restructured but I've been hearing that for years now. We're trained in LOS but I find myself fixing generators and working alongside 25B's and S's.

Does that include the old 31L's job, cable dogs?
