NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling from all NBA activities for life, fined him $2.5 million. Is this enough?

What are we the thought police now??? Don't get me wrong, that dude is a bigot and closed minded. But everyone knew he was a bigot before he bought the team, why was he even allowed to buy into the league?? We're persecuting this guy because somebody paid this Jezebel to set him up. These were private conversations between "lovers." This whole situation was a complete setup, there's been no due process. And the NBA has blatantly reared its HIPPOCRATIC face. Again, don't get me wrong, this man is a biggot and there should be no place for him in today's world.

He wasnt a known bigot when he bought the club. He bought the club in 81. He became known in 2003 after he was sued for discrimination against blacks and hispanics.
No one paid her to set him up. He ran his freaking mouth and even told her to record their conversions because he "forgets" things. She has over 100 hours of this guy running his mouth.
He shouldve kept his mouth shut. he is a billionaire if she taking pictures and hanging out with blacks and he doesnt like, you dont explain nothing to a side chick, you go and get another one.lol

Sounds pretty fair to me, I mean the problem has been eradicated. You really can't change a person and how they think. He grew up in a era where it was okay so for such feelings to exist. Makes sense if he is still bigoted.

Acceptable feelings are those not bigoted in nature. When I say feelings I mean as in actual emotions, or we can look at it in the aspect of feeling towards a person. Just like in the Army there is a level of professionalism that we all must abide by. We do have a "agency" for such feelings, it's called EO.

I am glad to see that someone is actually being held accountable for something.
STILL waiting for justice in the for the Fast and Furious fiasco. And for the four deaths in the TERRORIST attack on US SOIL in Benghazi. Sure Silver is an idiot for what he said and if he believes what he says he is a fool. But it was only words and wrong mindset. These attacks killed at least four Americans. Where is the accountability and where is the outrage? Where is the media and the social media demanding justice?
Just goes to show that nobody cares unless there is money or their family involved. Only then will people expect something to happen. The rest is just talk.

Sir, I think they are banning him more so because his stupidity became bad for business. Players were planning a boycott and they lost all sponsorship for the team. As a result he was costing the Nba revenue since they have a shared revenue.

SFC Wolfe, you hit it... Really, the NBA is not concerned about the racism as much as it is about saving face and profits. It all comes down to money. Sponsors start to pull out of support of a team and money is lost. The result? Ban the problem for life, professing that racism will not be tolerated. However, how much racism do you think goes on in those locker rooms? How much trash talking, even in jest, happens both on and off the court that involves racial slurs? If this were really about the racism involved the NBA would have to fire most of the people within the organization more than likely.

It was going to cost the NBA money when they didnt do something swiftly and it still will cost them money if he is still owning the team by the time next season starts. Doc Rivers said he will not be there if Sterling is still owning the team. Free agents will not got to the Clippers. The NBAPA already said they want to see something done by August/July.
Now the ball bounces to the players. will paul, griffin, and jordan leave. That will really tank the value of the franchise.

Sterling was set up and egged on by his girlfriend... not that this excuses any of his rant. He was caught red-handed with the microphone on, and is now paying the price for his bigotry.
If you read Kareem Abdul Jabbar's comments, Sterling has had this coming for years - and nobody did a darned thing about it. He was even being given that NAACP award for lifetime achievement and service just a couple of years after he was fined by the federal government for refusing to rent his apartments and homes to Black families because "they stink and bring down property values."
Yeah, he's pretty special.
What I would like to know, is Shaq going to be disciplined for his comments about the situation, when he said, "This is a Black league, there's no doubt about it"? If Bob Costas said the inverse about Baseball, he'd be out of a job... How about some parity?

Sir, I'm not seeing it maybe it's because I'm not looking for a negative meaning in whats said. If Gretzky said that I wouldn't take offense. When someone says that I guess I look at context before I jump to offense. I think the problem is we all try to make every issue where race is involved into something offensive not saying your doing that just speaking in general. Hot button issues with race or sex are just always tip toed around so much that people can't say anything these days and if you can't have conversation you can't have progress. Overall I guess I just see a difference in someone being overtly racist and someone not clearly stating something in the most politically correct manner.

Anyone that follows sports knows the NFL and NBA are a black league but white owned. That is a fact. Just like the NHL is a white league and white owned and baseball is dominated by hispanic players and white owners. Its a fact. No one would get fired over those comments.

He needs to go and how does he look a black player in the eyes. It was far worse with the N word because it was more than a word. Hank Aaron suffered because of that kind of hatred. Bob Gibson (one of the greatest pitchers ever) is still my sports idol of all time. I admire his courage living with the Jim Crowe Laws.

Do not know what else could be done to him, although he is probably going to be forced to sell the team, when that does happen, he will make over $500 million....not sure what else some may like for him to face or what other "penalties" he could face?

As a successful businessman, I suspect that the team wasn't his only source of income or business venture but I think that it is all the NBA can do to him since he has a contract with them. Will definitely put a crimp in his style though and I commend the NBA.

You would be correct he has made his money off real-estate in LA and Las vegas to the tune that he is worth 1.9 BILLION
