What a pain in the rear to type out a long post, hit the reply button and find the thread has already been deleted. Most forums lock a thread, but it’s still there, and sometimes with an explanation by a mod on why it was locked. Can the members here that keep this place alive get the same courtesy?

Paul, this is clearly not supposed to happen. There are tens of thousands of discussions on RallyPoint, and sometimes discussions get closed without proper protocols being followed. This is rare though, and I regret the inconvenience you had. I appreciate your feedback.

How often does this happen?

I'm fairly new to RP, and have seen a couple of posts disappear, but not whole threads.

Do you have any idea why it is done?

I've been here less than a year, but it's happened on at least a dozen threads I was following and posting to. So far only twice while I was actually responding to a thread. Usually I'm checking my notifications and click the link only to be returns to the main forum page, meaning the thread is no longer there.
