If an Officer has more than 15 years time-in-service, qualifies for TERA, and does not meet the 8 year time frame in serving as an Officer, what would their final retirement pay be based on? Will an Officer retire with their former highest enlisted rank and receive top three last years worth of pay (based on officer last three or the former enlisted rank). I ask this question because no I know has an idea (but there is always something hidden that covers it). I think it's a good question for any Officer to know incase they have to create Plan B down the road.

Retirement pay
CPT (Join to see) solved the question with the link she put up regarding the OSB just now.

Did you do the math? It is really painful. The difference between CPT pay at 18+ and E-7 is about $2400/mo. That's almost a mortgage payment in retirement pay. I think that 7 years is too much time as an officer not to be allowed to retire as an officer. Of course, my opinion is irrelevant and I'm sure there was some reason that the number 8 was chosen, but it had a bad feel to it (which again, doesn't matter to anyone).

I'm in the same boat, YG 2010 and would have 7Yrs as an officer and likely 16 total yrs service.

This is in response, but they changed everything. the latest message for the YG09 CPTs stated to the effect that you only need 1 YR as a CPT and you still retire as an officer if separated. The change was made around DEC14/JAN15... somewhere around there
