We can sew on all our badges and stuff on our ACU's right? Why not the ASU? All badges, patches, ribbons, tabs, everything. All in color. (I would love to see a mock-up by SSG Scott Williams )
On the ACU's if you sew on your rank you have to sew on your name tape, etc. Why is it a different standard for the ASU's?
I know some people are gonna hate this idea, and tradition, and yada yada yada. But I know just a small piece of you never wants to pin on another freaking ribbon and stab your pinky finger again!

I found an old uniform this past weekend in an antique shop and instantly thought of this post. Apparently some SGM at some point in time had the same idea and actually followed through with it SSG Robert Burns

I think it's fine for Unit functions but not for DA photos.

care to elaborate as to why you feel that way SSG Robert Pierce? I would not wear something on a regular basis that I would not wear in my DA photo personally.

But then how would you change it to wear medals? I guess you would have to sew on velcro! I am just going to have a 2LT salute me and call it a day.

I know that for Marines, having to measure your placement of things which have to be pinned on requires great attention to detail, which becomes a skill building exercise. As well I think that having fresh ribbons, badges, etc. looks sharp. I can imagine that as your uniform is cleaned your sewn on items begin to fade, which would deter from the overall appearance.
