I have a question regarding WOCS. On all my uniform tops, my name tapes are sewn in. I had to remove my rank and attach Velcro to it. I know this is against regulation but I understand we will be removing our current rank and wear WOCS as a new rank. Is it going to be an issue if my rank is Velcro but my name tapes are sewn in?

(Samuel L Jackson's voice from Pulp Fiction)

"Oh... My... God... What we have here is a failure to communicate. This WOC has failed to comprehend the importance of reading technical material and applying it to real life! I am going to help this WOC by conditioning his mind and his body because he CLEARLY is suffering from an oxygen shortage causing his brain to malfunction. YOU, his peers have failed him even MORE! Therefore:
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers!"

Unless they changed the WOCSOP since I attended WOCS last year, not only is it authorized, it is smart. It is one of the only things we were allowed to have preflighted. In addition to having it sewn on your tops, have your nametape sewn onto your PC as well.

It will not be an issue at all, and in fact it is encouraged because you don't get much time at all to do anything. Since you are PCSing to Rucker, you will have at least 10 days before you start WOCS after reporting to figure everything out.

I realize you are National Guard so it might be a bit different. You might report the day of WOCS in processing instead of earlier.

It depends on your leadership. But also consider writing a memo for the company about that.

You will be an expert on writing military memos when you graduate. Just remember - if you don't ask for it (via memo) you won't get it. "It" meaning anything.

Get you rank sewn on like everyone else. It's called uniform for a reason

It is highly encouraged to have your stuff sewn on, except the rank of course. You won't be able to keep anything velcro'd on your uniform until your Morale Officer submits a pre-flighting memo. They could submit this memo on Day 0 but it will almost certainly not get approved until week 3 or so.

No I did (and asked) the same thing. Fact is, having sewn uniforms (despite the rank) is the smarter route and the only thing allowed to be "pre-flighted" from the beginning of WOCS.

I answered my own question, anyone looking to attend WOCS.

In my experience it’s okay to have your name tapes sewn and your rank velcro.

You may be asking why, the reason is because you will be changing ranks as you progress through out the course.
