OK Sports Fans, try this on for size..... Should the US Military get involved in another "conflict" when the current Ops Tempo is forcing experienced Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen to leave the service?

Well according to all the ummmm administration mouthpieces, we are incapable of continuing to fight the two-war scenario, so ummmm not no but HELL NO!! That is all.

Chicken and the egg? We are downsizing because we don't have a major conflict. If we did, would we be scaling down? I'm not inclined to think so..

Excellent points!  I was referring to the very recent influx of support and operators into Africa.  We still are not out of Afghanistan.  Most of the Spec Ops guys are into double digit deployments.  Most of the Combat and Combat Support people are into multiple deployments.  How will the cuts in the budgets affect the troops on a personal level if we don't have a period of dis-engagement or down time?

I was a multiple tour Vietnam guy and I know what impact that had on me personally.

I think multiple deployments will be the norm for most soldiers in the future. I think this has always been the case in some way, with the rotations through Kuwait, Bosnia, Sinai, etc. along with the combat missions that come about every few years. If we learn from the past 2 wars though I think we will find ways to use less troops to accomplish our missions and that we will ensure proper decompression after tours overseas. In my personal opinion, it is not that difficult to achieve, we just need to ensure the force is properly aligned and prepared for possible future contingencies.
