Her and thousands of others are part of the culture that allowed women to be harassed, assaulted, raped and marginalized. They tried to improve their images by wearing black dresses to the Golden Globes last night and making catchy speeches. The Hollywood culture has been a cesspool for decades. It is now being revealed for those that were unwilling to accept it previously.

You're kidding right? Donald Trump has been photographed with some really slimy people as well. Voters were able to overlook his less than stellar associations and put him in office without finding him guilty by association.

SPC Martin Wiesiolek -Martin, I did not put her in the same camp as Harvey Weinstein. Your reading comprehension skills are slipping. I never accused Oprah of sexually assaulting/harassing/molesting or raping anyone. The category I put her in was one of an enabler and a blind eye turner.

Hollywood has had a culture of casting couches and the sexual exploitation of women for many decades. Those in power abused those looking for fame and fortune. Many others knew and ignored it/denied it etc. If you think the stories of scores of people coming out now were not knows about, whispered about etc. You are kidding yourself.

Perhaps your judgment is impaired because you are a member of the Oprah book of the month club or something. Oprah was/is in the highest levels and inner circles of that culture. She knows all of these people well and has access to the inner sanctums of that world.

It's very interesting to read all the comments by men on here. Only men, as a matter of fact. You talk about her race, her gender, her profession and her emotions. Her emotions. If only someone would have delved into Donnie's emotions before he took office, the comments would have more relevance. So let me offer this as a counter-question: If someone who has overcome racial discrimination, gender bias, crawled out of poverty to become one of the richest and most recognizable people in the world, and has spent many years in the spotlight of fame should run for President, would you vote for that person based on their achievements?

I think that Hillary proved it takes more than being a successful woman to be able to bring the vote.
She carried a lot of baggage into the elections which were only exacerbated by the way the DNC handled the elections.
I think that there will be a lot of people who could get behind Oprah as a candidate, depending upon her opposition. There are several women I would vote for before her, and a few men. But her rise to fame and power has more than a few missteps that are going to be trotted out for public review.
As for the 2016 election, I don't think it is so much that Trump won, but that the DNC lost. Their "agenda before the will of the people" in the primaries hurt not only the Presidential bid, but the down tickets as well.
I am torn about Oprah though, I would rather see her supporting another woman for the position than making a run herself. I think it's time she pass the torch to a new generation.

Actually it is interesting that the left, from the time Trump descended on the escalator, was criticized as a rich business man from the entertainment field and not qualified to be president.. BUT the second a rich business woman from the entertainment field is considered for the job it is "ALL HAIL OPRA!!!!!" Me thinks a dual standard persists. Has NOTHING to do with whether she is black or a woman. She's a VERY left wing liberal.

The allegations of sexual assault on Capitol Hill has proven the standard that the tribalism takes priority, on both sides of the aisle. "My predator is acceptable, yours is not." to think it wouldn't apply in the case of celebrity at this point would be naive.
Fortunately, we have a generation coming up with no loyalty to "The Party". The hypocrisy is not going to stand much longer. (I hope).

CW5 Edward "Tate" Jones Jr. - Anyone who starts their argument with "left" or "right" is automatically flawed. It has very much to do with being black and being a woman, regardless of her politics. Trump's main point was he was a successful, self-made billionaire and therefore was ultimately qualified to run the "business" of the federal government. Despite his multiple bankruptcies, this was the main talking point. Despite his overt misogyny, racism, disdain of the disabled and many other known character flaws, it always came back to how "good" a businessman he was. You also didn't answer my question, and in fact, disregarded it completely.

Honestly, we just elected a B list reality TV star with multiple sexual assault allegations. I suspect Oprah would be just fine...
