You'll need to check with Admin, but depending on Reg you'll be authorized X days Proceed, Y days Travel, and then you choose how many days leave to take from there. However, they normally determine that based on where they are flying you into, not where your family is located, unless that is where you PCS'd from initially.
As an example, when I PCS'd from Camp Pen CA to MCB Quantico VA, I was give 3 days proceed, 4 days travel, and I took 7 days leave enroute.

Thank You SGT Kennedy, My orders say I'm authorized to go to California and get my family. So if I'm authorized 8 days travel time and take 15 days leave, do I only get charged for 7 right?

SGT (Join to see) If you take 15 days to get there, subtract the 7 days travel from that total. However, if you are "Authorized 7 days travel, AND 15 days leave" with a report date 22 days in the future... you get charged for however many actual days you take. The Travel days come off first.
