Honestly, everyone's experience is different. Show up in great shape and ready for a fast pace. It's what you make it. But you will work hard.

1CAV is so vast, it's truly hard to pinpoint what you will be doing. Count on vehicle PMCS every Monday in the motorpool and hanging around doing layouts, inventories, and seldomly doing your actual MOS.

I disagree with your comment. This is exactly the place to do his MOS.

SSG(P) (Join to see) you must have been one of the lucky few then. Not a single person in my MOS in my company do our jobs. We are used for details.

I originally thumbed you down because out of all places, 1st CAV is going to get the most out of the 25U MOS. Especially if he is a line rep or even BN S6. Are you in a signal company or BN?

PCSing to Fort Hood In July; Going to 1st Cav. What should I expect with being a 25U in a Cav unit?

Be prepared to go to the field alot. And deploy every year or two. I was with the 1st Cav 2000-2005 and deployed twice 2001 and 2004. was gone alot either in the field or NTC. I was a 31F before it went to 25F.

I was in the 57th ESB in Fort Hood, from the look of it, it seemed the CAV's commo were always out in the field or working. It was rare to see them out and about

A lot of field duty and heat. I was there 5 years and was only at the house 28 month.

Get real familiar with your tank and bradley FSRs and the CECOM guys. Tankers break stuff at the highest rate Ive ever seen. Your life will be in the motorpool and get real familiar with the Vic-3 system.

I'm currently here and its honestly been a hell of a ride. Lots of time in the field, never have any down time. Were on a year on year off deployment rotation.
