Obama... no wonder the military hates this knuckle-head. Only recently posting on multiple news site, after turning down a wedding invitation from 2 Army Capt.'s who were getting married at one of the most picturesque golf courses on the big island, and only hours before the wedding the happy couple receives a note telling them that they would have to re-locate the wedding as his highness was intending to play a round at that very same course at that very same time... comments/concerns?

You cannot pin this on the President. He did not call the country club and make his tee-time. You have to blame his staff and that country club for this embarrassment. I am not a fan of this President but again this is not his fault.

Do you have a link to this story, PO1 Michael Fullmer. It's not just President Obama who snarls traffic (and everything else) when he travels or visits a place. All presidents do that. You can't "blame that" on President Obama ... It's a Secret Service thing: They are going to do everything in their power to ensure the president is safe, and if that means "clearing" a golf course for him to play, then that will happen. I'm sure it has happened before President Obama and will happen after President Obama.

Do you have a link to the story?

Sir, it is impressive that the Commander in Chief took the time to call the two officers involved. I submit that you can't really say, "nothing in regards to being President" ... He is the President, 24 x 7, so everything he does is in regards to being President.

I found one link to the story. Apparently the bride was happy at the end of the day:

the sites I have so far are... the blaze, fox news and top right news.com. Mr. Montgomery, while I realize all presidents do this and secret service are involved, how many are invited to a wedding at the exact location he intends to play golf at, at the same time? I'm sure the wedding was planned LONG before obama decided to vacation in HI over xmas.

I'm sure you're right about that, PO1 Michael Fullmer, but RHIP, and the CIC outranks everyone, including those two captains, you, me ... well, everybody.

I'm sure BO didn't make the plans, but he still works for the people. The last time I checked, although he outranks SM's by title, SM's are still citizen employers of the CinC. Prudence on the part of the schedulers seems to be lacking and the humility of the CinC for interrupting that type of event is wrong on so many levels. There is no reason they couldn't have rescheduled the golf outing for another time or day.

PO1 Michael Fullmer You are retired, and have the ability to speak your mind. This however is a largely military (would be happy if it were 100%) but largely military crowd. I find it reprehensible when anyone affiliated with military straight up bashes on the President. With all due respect to your opinion, take that crap elsewhere.

There are a tremendous amount of young SMs on the site. If they see "us" as some of the older guys acting in this manner, it becomes acceptable, and quite frankly it is not.

It is one thing to have an opinion on something, quite another to disrespect the Office by tossing derogatory names.

Respectfully

I'm sorry that they had to change their wedding plans because of the Presidents itineray - I had to change mine as well 23 years ago because of the minister having a scheduling issue. Things happen. What if it had rained that day - they would have had to revert to plan b.

It is my understanding that he did call them and apolgize and how many people can say that the President of the United States crashed their wedding.

"Move a wedding"? on the day of the big event? These venues have to be locked in at least a year prior (sometimes more).
As long as the powers that be gave this hapless young couple a viable alternative and the ability to notify their guests in time, it will be a great story to tell their grandchildren.

I highly doubt that President Obama was aware of what was going on, but now that he does after the fact I hope the couple get more than a simple apology. The President needs to make this right.

SSG Tim Everett You're right, he did call the couple afterwords to give an apology, but I don't think that's enough. Weddings aren't something that can simply be rescheduled at the last minute. Without knowing the full story and the circumstances of the wedding I'd be willing to bet that the couple are out a considerable amount of money, not to even go into how pissed the wife to be must be. An apology is fine and good, but it doesn't give them their wedding back. IMO President Obama should do something along the lines of paying for a new wedding and ensure the officer, being that he needs leave to attend his wedding, is given the time off needed.

These are not matters that a President should normally have to deal with, but this is a unique case with unique circumstances. I think it would speak loudly about President Obama's character if he were to go above and beyond to fix what he wrecked, and to see to it personally.

I had read the golf course actually moved them to a more picturesque location. It wasn't the site they paid for but some accounts say it was better. The couple announced they were pleased with the apology and the new venue they were given that day

SGT (Join to see) If so then that's fantastic. I was thinking that they essentially had their wedding canceled out from under them, but if they were still able to go through with it and get a better venue in the process then that's just awesome. Happy to hear that everything worked out, and they got a personal apology from the President anyway.

Crowder, I realize you live out there with Dick Cheney and the winter is beating down on you, but must you be the resident troll on every posting in this sight. i am sorry that life has passed you by and you want to be so hateful to the President but get a clue, he has results that show he is getting the VA fixed, the Budget, the Jobs, The Wars, the Borders, The CDC and the bringing back of modernization in production and manufacturing in this country. I have no doubt you may have been left behind as rural counselors are few and far between and people in your age group do not retrain well for new jobs. Then filled with so much anger, wow, this must be a very difficult time of year for you. I really would suggest you see someone about the amount of damage fox has done to you and your mental processing of facts and data. Here's wishing you a Happy New Year and a smile, Cheers.

Well considering he is the POTUS/ CIC, both discretion and security of his movements are paramount. The White House Staff/ Aids could have avoided the scheduling fiasco, but the President didn't seem to even know they where there. Do you honestly think he personally reads/ responds to every letter like Santa Clause? Maybe he could have waited an hour, maybe not... but from the couples comments on the matter they were pleased with both the new location of the wedding (seems it was better than the first), and the apology from the POTUS himself (who didn't have to call). My thoughts on this matter run in the realm of who gives a crap because we have more important things to worry about, and the drooling media should probably report on such instead of acting like a High School gossip girl. OMG, did you see the shoes he was wearing with THAT shirt? Probably a FIS Agent too, lol.

So i read this article and he called them and apologized. The golf course moved there wedding to a better part of the golf course with a better view. They made the best of the situation it is not ideal to move the place you planned on the day of your wedding but it happened and the got a better deal. Honestly i could care less and why are people upset when this did not effect them the Couple was okay with what happened.

I have never seen more blatant disrespect for any CINC than I have against this current administration---and it's by US service members!! If you wear a camoflauge uniform with two name tapes, you gave up the right to called the POTUS a "knuckle head" regardless of your opinion of him----I won't comment on the post because we all know what happened.
