I may be biased, but a Marine should always take lead in combat oriented anything. We are first in and last out for a reason! You never hear anyone say send in the Army, Navy, out Air Force.....It's always the Marine! So why not have one take lead on Joint Chiefs?

One of the greatest Marines of our time. He is the right man for the job. "Fighting Joe" will set the new standard, that is needed to reshape and reclaim our military might on the World's stage. I only wish, that it was "Time Now' for Grizzly 6.

Don't screw up Marine.. And don't kiss any ass. Just be a hardcharger and if you get KIA better that than to concede your standards.. If I have said it once, I have said it hundreds of times, a troop or junior officer is expected to go out and do battle knowing that they may make the ultimate sacrifice but too often I think that Generals are not willing to sacrifice their careers to stand hard on a position that they know is right.. Continue to make us proud...

No crystal ball here, however a Marine in an ultra-progressive business environment should be top ratings on a reality show or fight night ... daily podcasting challenge.

Let the beatings commence.

I hope he can bring much of his Marine Corps thinking and ingenuity to the DOD. Also, he's a fighting man which is nice to see.

Congrats to the General, from all I've read and heard, great choice! As others have mentioned, I expect some great things for the military during his tenure.

The other name that kept coming up in conversations is a former High School Classmate of mine, Admiral Samuel Locklear. Adm Locklear is Commander, U S Pacific Command. His class selected him the MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED when he was a Senior in High School..... Judges?

Hey you got to give it to them, they got that one right!

Outstanding choice.  He will make a great Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
