Mine wasn't for screwing up, mine was trying to fix a civil engineering mistake. Our Battalion building was built downstairs from the parking lot. One day I was the Staff Duty Runner and it was raining pretty bad. One of our Battalion NCOs came down and told me to keep the walk leading from the parking lot to the Battalion Building clear of mud and the large puddle that was washing out from the areas waiting to be seeded with grass into a low spot on the sidewalk so the battalion personnel didn't get their boots muddy as they were walking into their new building. Everyone that walked by asked me what I did wrong. I laughed and said, "I'm just lucky enough to have Staff Duty today." Then someone else walked by and was pissed that I was getting their snow shovel all muddy. All in a days work when you're part of that E-4 Mafia.
