I would prefer we go back to sew on the collar (rank and branch for officers). Main reason: Visibility and I can tell a lot about who I am
talking to just by seeing what branch they are in.

I agree; I preferred being able to better identify someone as an Officer from a distance and knowing I would need to salute. Plus, as you stated, branch insignia gave a better idea of their area of knowledge.
