While at a military base I am found to be sharing a barracks with females. All rooms are separated and have locking doors. The issue is that since I was a young joe I have found a great appreciation for silkies, aka Ranger Panties. I rock them out as we wind down the duty day. I have never had an issue as being in the infantry. Now that females are in the same building I was advised that they may not be the best option for my evening attire in the barracks.

When the impending absorption of women in combat arms while should we know have to change the standard for the ones that are maintaining the standard? I am sure if SSG V. Michelle Woods was there wouldn't even blink an eye. Should it matter that there would be women around.

It shouldn't matter, equal opportunity, we're all servicemembers thought the good and bad right? If we are professional, and treat each other (as we should technically) as brother/sister, there shouldn't be any issues.... Obviously, not counting the flesh-thirsty assholes that would screw it up for the rest of us, I want my silkies (my platoon took a couple of run-swim-runs in them, and no complaints... well, like they would matter....).

So they cover enough for the whole unit to be outside, in public, all around the base during PT...but not enough to be in the barracks after duty hours?

that was what I was saying. There are units in the military where that is their official uniform.

It's sad really. How did they become more offensive? I just we just became more easily offended.

If she wants to file a sharp complaint.... she'll have to include the entire marine corps. Just make sure your boys aren't hanging out. You will find that living with females is not a big deal. You will probably see them in various stages of undress as some females find it to difficult to put on proper pair of pants while doing laundry.

The military of the future in two words: Starship Troops.

Just saying.

Now someone bust out a violin in enemy territory and light up the grill! It's a ranger panty party!

BLUF: Wear um, if they are offended, then need to be given consideration of others training so as to not offend you by being offended at a non offensive event.

Context matters in this one... No names needed, but a little background on the individual that gave you that "advice" is warranted (or at least wanted)

I am deployed now but in our training up for this we shared a building with other units. On our floor were female soldiers. I love my ranger panties and sleep in them. I will wear them walking down the hall to the latrine for when I take a shower or use the latrine. It came from someone that their title is also a toy. I ended up wearing them anyway. Days later I saw a female soldier wear something very similar while playing basketball outside in public.
