While at a military base I am found to be sharing a barracks with females. All rooms are separated and have locking doors. The issue is that since I was a young joe I have found a great appreciation for silkies, aka Ranger Panties. I rock them out as we wind down the duty day. I have never had an issue as being in the infantry. Now that females are in the same building I was advised that they may not be the best option for my evening attire in the barracks.
When the impending absorption of women in combat arms while should we know have to change the standard for the ones that are maintaining the standard? I am sure if SSG V. Michelle Woods was there wouldn't even blink an eye. Should it matter that there would be women around.

Dear Lord no, to answer your question the best I can. No it would not offend me in the slightest bit and I don't see why they should offend anyone else. You enjoy those Ranger Panties and all of their comfort.

Rangers didn't invent the concept of "silky" running shorts. They are fairly commonplace in the running world. I guess I'm not seeing the issue.

True. It is really the over zealous Army's reaction too then with the fear of a sharp issue. I ran a marathon in myrtle beach a while ago. I wasn't really wearing much at all. But I would only wear that for such an event.

Hey, at least the SHARP folks can take comfort in the fact that the Ranger shorts aren't split up the sides like a lot of the commercial brands ;-)

I'm 56 and have been wearing them for 30 years- in fact I'm wearing them now! Of course, I still have the legs to go with them since I ride at least 25K a day on my bike...

I've actually never had an issue with a female complaining to me or anyone in my chain of command about me rocking the ranger panties... it's always the males above me in my chain of command that are afraid of a complaint and try to preempt it.

We had the same shorts when I was active duty, only they were bright green.... (10th SFG(A)) 1983-1986..... we also had a white 3 button t shirt with 3/4 green sleeves. With them we also had bright green sweat suit..... of course those kind of shorts WERE in style then...... and we liked them better than the "bumble bee" colored pt gear the rest of the Army was using.

I have found that no has reported me yet for a SHARP complaint yet. So I think I am in the clear now.

Being that I've played rugby way to long I've been in situations where women and men would share a locker room and have been known to play a little nude co-ed rugby. So as long as everything is squared and put away LT I say rock'em. Like things wouldn't get awkward in the field mind as well get weird in garrison.
