While at a military base I am found to be sharing a barracks with females. All rooms are separated and have locking doors. The issue is that since I was a young joe I have found a great appreciation for silkies, aka Ranger Panties. I rock them out as we wind down the duty day. I have never had an issue as being in the infantry. Now that females are in the same building I was advised that they may not be the best option for my evening attire in the barracks.
When the impending absorption of women in combat arms while should we know have to change the standard for the ones that are maintaining the standard? I am sure if SSG V. Michelle Woods was there wouldn't even blink an eye. Should it matter that there would be women around.

Somewhat on this same topic - ever had to hold a female soldiers feet during the sit-up APFT event? God, I keep my head almost turned around for fear of a SHARP violation. That's an uncomfortable position.

EVERYONE need to wear spandex at the APFT! I have seen my share of both sets of genatalia. Just take them off befor the H/W. Please put on spandex!

And that is why whenever we do an APFT, even if we have to borrow a male or female who isn't taking the test...we will always have female soldiers holding female soldiers feet. The same applies for male soldiers.

I keep my face turned regardless of the sex of the soldier, just to limit how much I'm inhaling their breath. There's no point in getting sick over an APFT.

Hahahaha oh my goodness! In honor of your ridiculous albeit valid concerns, I think I'll slip into my 3rd Bat Ranger Panties and head off to dream land...

Written and performed by the wacked out veterans that run http://rangerup.com and http://rhinoden.com and produced by Tim O'Donnell at http://pixelapictura.c...
I am just going to leave this right here. Truely epic use of the Ranger Panties.

PV2 (Join to see) They are based in NC. I knew one of the guys in the video. He was cadre at my Pre-OCS program in NC.

Seriously, I think we should totally Shinseki these. If they make Rangers feel elite from the waist down, imagine what they would do for the rest of the Army.

And just FYI, I found these images on Google with a quick search for "Marine Corps silkies" lol

I don't have a direct answer for you, except to say: Really? Is this what our Army has come to, where we have to worry that the shorts we wear might offend someone?
My first thought is that rather than dealing with real, personally and organizationally harmful behaviors and attitudes, we've taught our people to worry about what they are wearing. And not about wearing risque or edgy clothes, about the same clothes they have worn in public and private for years. If this is truly the net results of SHARP and all the other alphabet programs over the years, we've not kept our eye on the ball, and those programs are failures.

You nailed it. I really don't I am going to seduce a female soldier in the hallway with my silkies. To make things even worse there was a female soldiers wearing silkies playing basket ball outside. I don't see how I am the one getting hit by this.

I agree and I think the HH6 would beat your down LT! If she likes them that's the only opinion that matters

Oh it's worse than that sir. If you really feel like bashing your head against a wall step into any medical facility and watch how restricted the majority of the green suit workers. Off topic, but it's gotten to a point where it's difficult to even correct a civilian working without some sort of violation or someone being offended

I actually had to tell an sm to put on some sort of underclothing on, his junk was hanging out even with the liner in place, I've had to hold many female sm's ankles during sit ups, and yes its uncomfortable, you will get a crotch shot, grow up its the military not high school

In earlier times, I probably looked pretty good in my Ranger panties. Now, I have to be careful where I wear them for fear that Greenpeace will circle me in an attempt to save the beached whale... :-)
I think the issue is that, because of the mixed units/barracks, people of both sexes just need to be aware and dress appropriately. Very hard to define as it is in the eye of the beholder. I see nothing wrong with Ranger panties on men or women. Common sense should prevail...

I wonder when they say they will not change the standard do they realize that the men will have to change their standard. Makes holding three feet of female soldiers and want not.
