What are your thoughts on someone reaching out to their old Army buddies?

I am curious what other veterans would think about an old service buddy reaching out randomly. A few of my Army buddies are not on Facebook or other social media and every once in a while I google their names. I recently found one with an email and thought about reaching out, but not sure if it would be cool. Thoughts?

It depends on how close you were and why you are no longer that close.
But, generally speaking, there is nothing wrong with reaching out to an old buddy - Army or otherwise - to reconnect. That is one of the few GOOD uses of social media, IMHO.

Absolutely reach out. I wish I could track down some guys I served with over 20 years ago, just to say hello and see how they are doing. If you reach out and they do not respond, nothing lost... if you reach out and reconnect, everything gained...

There is absolutely no reason not to reach out. Go for it. You might be helping somebody by talking to them.

MCPO Roger Collins That's possible, but personally I would risk it vs. wishing I tried to find them and wondering.
