Reclassing to 68F. What's it like?

Ok so this is a multi part answer. First off after SSG you’ll probably have to reclass. Second there are not a lot of us at all so many times you’re making decisions of your own without a medical provider. Next your life can be absolutely miserable if you have a shitty PT you work with. Ok so now the good. The schoolhouse was very fun and VERY challenging. You deploy a ton (could be a bad thing depending on how you feel). It’s an extremely rewarding job though and I’m extremely glad to be a Foxtrot. Any questions in particular feel free to ask.

I'm currently in the internship phase of my 65B (PT) training and thus far all of the 68Fs I've worked with have been great. The NCOs, in particular, know their stuff and they are always more than capable implementing the sometimes insane rehab programs people like myself dream up. If forced to choose I'd pretty take them over any civilian PT tech or even PTA I've encountered on the civilian side. Of course the mission always comes first and every clinic is different, but I believe most clinic chiefs are very encouraging when it comes to continuing your education. Many classes in the Army-Baylor DPT program have at least one student that formerly a tech. I know of others that have made the jump to the PA program. Did anyone point out to you that most of the CMF 68 series jobs are only open to non-promotable E4 and below? Including 68F.
You will require a grade waiver from the MOS proponent, which is unlikely because they're not having any difficulty filling those school seats.
You can look up the requirements of the MOS you want on the ATRRS course catalog.
If you stay in your MOS you need to go to Airborne school, if you haven't already. 25C is a nearly dead MOS outside of USASOC.

Like any other unit. It’s all dependent on your chain but leadership in MEDCOM is usually very supportive of individual growth. It’s the best job I’ve ever had.

I reclassed from 74D to 68F. The medical side of the Army is wonderful. The MOS is great. It’s about 8 months of reclass. 4-5 months in the school house (Fort Sam Houston) and 3 months in the clinic. I went to a Fort Carson. This is not an accredited program. Unlike 68L, you cannot translate this into PTA on the civilian side. Also, you will not be able to promote pass E5. Unless there is some loop hole with the Army gods. You cap out at SGT. The Army is slowly getting rid of this MOS but it’s a wonderful journey and I recommend it.
