Since I was recommended for SELCON, what is my new mandatory retirement date? Do I at least get to serve 20 years and retire?

I learned recently that I was recommended for SELCON (I am currently a Major and now a 2x non-select). I want to continue serving.
However, what is now my new mandatory retirement date? Do I at least get to serve 20 years and retire? I read that I can serve up to 24 years. When will HRC update my MRD?

You are allowed to stay long enough to qualify for retirement if you're within 6 yrs, however you won't be allowed to exceed 24 yrs of active commissioned service (ACS).
AR 600-8-29 states, "MAJs that would otherwise have been separated for having twice failed to be selected for promotion, may not be continued on active duty for a period which extends beyond the last day of the month in which the officer completes 24 years of active commissioned service, unless promoted to the regular grade of LTC"

MAJ (Join to see) - Yep. As long as you are eligible (which means basically your MEL requirement), you'll go in front of the board. As you said, AZ promotion rates are a lot smaller, but great write-ups can increase your odds (I know of at least one officer that were SELCON and subsequently picked up for promotion as an AZ).
