So I just finished watching Daredevil on Netfix (not the movie, the new TV Series).
It is set just after the Avenger's Movie inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I must say it is GOOD.
For those who don't know, I am a HUGE comic fan, and if this were bad, I would tear it apart.
But what makes this good is not that it is true to the source material, or that it has great acting,it is that the creators developed dual protagonists.
Both the Hero (Daredevil) and the Villain (Kingpin) are equal in this tale. I'm a firm believer that the villain must be "at least" as interesting as the hero of the story, and in this series, they captured that.
What's more, we find ourselves rooting for both sides, as they are both right and wrong in the story. One approaches things from the macro, while the other from the micro. So this said, what we dislike is the methods... not the man. For if we were to look at them from a different angle... the other would be the villain of this tale.

I also just started watching this. I am four episodes in and so far I am very pleased with the show. I have always prefered the superheros who are super through hard work and dedication over the ones with powers. This Daredevil is just that. He gets his ass kicked in all four episodes but dishes out more punishment than he receives.

Yeah, I love everything I've seen so far. The ability for Marvel to interconnect thier Television/VoD/Movie Universe is great. It's literally the viewing equivilent of a comic book, with all these stories happening interconnected.
The ability of Netflix to not have a censorship board means it can be darker, grittier, realer than most of the other shows, and I can't wait for the rest of the Marvel Knights (Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Defenders Mini-Series) to catch up. If they can bring in a Punisher program like the short 'Dirty Laundry' (Youtube it if you haven't seen it already), or even a Moon Knight, I won't need to watch real TV ever again.
Sorry, got off track, was geekin' out.

I'm a HUGE Iron Fist fan. If they can capture the Martial Arts flavor, with the right touch of mysticism, I'll be stoked.
On a side note, Marvel owns Punisher & Ghost Rider again... so who knows what we'll see.
I believe the last properties they don't have positive control of are:
Spiderman (They have a deal with Sony though)
Fantastic Four
X-Men
Namor (I believe he has reverted but don't have confirmation).

finished the series on Netflix last week. was never a big Daredevil fan, but I always respect the heroes that don't have "super powers", so I was certainly pleased with how it was presented. loved the fight scenes(all of them) and looking forward to new season next year!

Many of the marvel heroes aren't really about their powers, but about their inner conflicts. In DD's case it's the Lawyer / Vigilante.

I've started this series just now. Love Marvel. Can't wait for Avengers 2!

I'm actually looking more forward to Ant Man than Avengers 2. Don't get me wrong, Avengers 2 looks great... but I want a good Heist movie.

interesting perspective. I, also enjoying my fair share of comics, dc or marvel really. the first thing that came to mind was the later 2 dark knight movies: how much attention did heath ledgers joker and tom hardy's bane get? They were outstanding villains with such charisma that fans went beyond loving to hate them, heck some people pulled for them sometimes. That friction between a great protagonist and antagonist can make a huge difference.

He really brings it as Kingpin! I have always liked D'Onofrio's acting and this role is just as good as his others!

D'Onofrio's portrayal of the Kingpin is top. There's an episode that brings a backstory element, and it makes you 'almost' cheer for the guy. The writing and acting from D'Onofrio is amazing.

So I did watch it this past weekend. First I will say DAMN YOU NETFLIX AND YOUR BINGE WATCHING POTENTIAL!! Sorry had to get that out
What an amazing show that was. I saw an interview with the actor who plays Murdock/Daredevil, and he is british. I thought it was interesting that like Hemsworth in Thor, Lincoln in Walking Dead, and Oldman in the Dark Knight trilogy he shed his accent to play a non british character.
Secondly, Vincent D'Onofrio should win an Emmy for his performance as Kingpin. He masterfully portrayed the character. Seeing the backstory made changed him from this malevolent scheming bastard to a tragic character that I felt sympathy for.
Third, the way that they incorporated the events of the Avengers without using those events or characters to legitimize the show was well done.
Fourth, I think that Marvel really missed out on something. I think that they should have done all of the individual hero stories in this manner. It allows for a deeper development of who the Heros and villains are without the time constraints of a feature film. Case in point Daredevil. The Ben Affleck Daredevil I have not been able to sit through once. Daredevil is a character that growing up I had no interest in. Unless Daredevil was in a Punisher comic, I didn't care. The way they told the story in this series made the character compeling. Made all the supporting characters interesting. If they had done this with other Marvel Characters as well, or if they were to do something like this with Hawkeye and Black Widow, I think they would find success.
The only problem I had was Foggy. It was not that it wasn't well acted. It wasn't that I didn't like the character, or even the actor portraying the character. The problem is
The Mighty Ducks. The actor has such a baby face that even years after The Mighty Ducks series of movies, I was waiting for Foggy to bust out his green jersey.
