The ruins at novo brdo are a great site. Actually a U N ESCO world heritage site. While it is fairly safe in the area, Kosovo is still a declared combat zone and has issues.

SPC Elijah Benson - definitely a combat zone, or else I owe a ton of money and taxes from earlier this year.

SPC Elijah Benson - It is coming along. The country is still dealing with the whole divided issues but the government wants to work and succeed. It's gonna take time but it's slowly improving

CW2 (Join to see) - That's good to hear. Maybe one day, when I'm old, I'll go visit the area..... maybe. Thanks for the update.

I recall leading a patrol to the Novo Brdo area back in around May 2000... It's way in the background, left pic. Things were a little different back then.

The two NCO's on each end are now warrant officers in my unit (in the castle pic).

We were based at Camp Monteith (Gnjilane). The things that happened to the Albanians were horrific, then we had to deal with the retaliation against the remaining Serbs. Really awful.

Here are some pics of the ruins I took while I was there as the NCOIC for LMT-E1, KFOR 17. I enjoy this time periods architecture, so it was a real treat to have experience visiting this area.

You can thank vets like us for that who served there from the 1990's - 2002. There was little or no peace then.
