In the face of the ISIS kill list, when is the Pentagon going to allow Service Members, who have concealed carry permits, and the proper training to carry in uniform? This is of particular interest and importance to National Guard, and Reservest who are active and TPU. What do you think?

Should all service members be allowed to carry a side arm for protection?

This question is being asked on the news of ISIS putting a list of names and addresses of military personnel who they want to be killed here on American soil. They want to make sure that we know that we are not safe even on our home ground. My thoughts are that all American military both and active should be allowed to carry a side arm to protect themselves and their family. This is not to say that everyone else has not the right to protect themselves, they have not been placed on a hit list.

1SG, I think this is a very fair question to pose, especially after hearing on the news about a 100 soldier hit list that has been complied based on information gathered about service members via social media and the internet. As a service member, mother and wife of a veteran this makes me very concerned for the welfare of my family. I do conceal carry out of work and feel secure when I'm on post, however, I can understand the concern if I was national guard or reserves. I don't want to over step, but feel as if we did have the right to conceal carry all the time this would open a gray area that would be counter productive. I see posts of fake valor all of time and have dealt with my share of disgruntled soldiers who were chaptered. My question is then what is to stop these persons from baring claim to the same ability actively serving members have?

Good comment. I would like to clarify that the concealed carry permits must be state issued, not military issued. Each state has different laws and regulations and each military post would have say per that Post Command. It would be the military's responsibility to offer further training.
