So I love the idea however there is one problem that I see. It sets the term limits at 12 years(2 terms) serving in the senate and 6 years(3 terms) Assuming that currently elected officials would able to finish their currents terms, it means that we will have 35% of the senate will have to be brand new next election. And for the house the number is 65%. Individuals who run for these should be extremely qualified for the position. If they aren’t I’m not sure clearing out the old will even help us as much as we hope it would. Now if they set a limit somehow like, for example, every election from this point until every member meets term requirements no more than the top 20% highest tenured congress members maybe for forced out. It would obviously take a few extra election cycles but it would also prevent any crazy mishaps caused by a massive regime change all at once.

Good idea, never happen. But, I would like a recall provision if it did.

I would be concerned of too much disruption. Every time a Congressman or Senator did something someone did not like, there could be recall actions taken. Justified or not, the politician would have to take action to defend himself, thus detracting from their duties.

MSG Stan Hutchison Many states have recall provisions, seldom used or successful. Specific charges would need to be used for justification, just as for impeachment and treason.

MCPO Roger Collins - I could probably support this, but it would have to be very strict, with penalties for frivolous claims.

MSG Stan Hutchison it would give voters recourse when extreme bad actors ignore our laws. Congress (Senate and House) currently feel because they are lawmakers, they are above Constitutional laws. Congressional rules do NOT supersede Constitution.

First of all, it wouldn't happen immediately. Constitutional amendments are intentionally long, deliberative processes for obvious(?) reasons. Second, you can bet that every serving member of Congress would seek to be grandfathered under the previous rules (no limit) or have the clock not start until the final passage, THEN start counting terms of office from that date forward.

I'd like to see Congressional pensions removed completely - elected office is supposed to be public service, not a career in and of itself. Give your time, then come back and live under the laws you passed for the rest of us.
