Sir, I asked the following of my Commanders when I was a 1SG:

1.  What is your philosophy?  I want to see how, if any, it was different from the last CDR.  I also like to take a look at it to see if there was something left out that I could recommend adding.  This gave the incoming CDR another perspective on the Company.

2.  What are your goals?  What are you looking to gain out of command?

3.  What do you expect out of me as your 1SG?

Battle, all three of those are spot on and the same topics that I had with each of my Battery commanders when i was a 1SG.

The things I want now that seems to never happen since moving to OPs, is a initial counseling so I know what is expected of me, I think alot of senior CPTs and MAJs really know what to do with old senior NCOs. I know how to do my job just let me know what you want and how you want it.

Tracking on that.  I am also in OPS and it is a much different animal.  I asked for my left and right limits and the freedom to maneuver to complete the mission as I see fit.  For the most part, I get left alone to do just that... ;)
