Anne Arundel County police on Wednesday identified the victim of a Severn homicide as Karlyn Serane Ramirez, 24.

Ramirez was found shot to death in a townhome in the 8000 block of Millstone Court at 7:57 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Ramirez's daughter, about 5 months old, was found unharmed next to her and appeared to be in good health, police said.

Fort George G. Meade officials confirmed Ramirez was an Army soldier stationed there, Wednesday night.

Officials for the installation and the army did not immediately respond to email questions about Ramirez' military service. Ramirez's Facebook page identifies her as an Army "SPC" or specialist.

Chuy Ramirez, from San Antonio, Texas, identifed himself as her brother and declined to comment on Facebook.

"(A)t this time we our selves (sic) are still wanting answers," he wrote in message.

Ramirez was married, said Lt. Ryan Frashure, a county police spokesman. Police have conducted several interviews with the husband, whom Frashure described "accessible" and "answering questions."

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s autopsy revealed the cause of death was gunshot wounds with the manner being homicide.

Ramirez was found after officers responded to a call for an open door at the residence, which is part of Lake Village Rental Townhomes.

A person in the area noticed a number of dogs running loose and, knowing where the dogs lived, returned them.

When the person returned the animals, they entered the home through the open door. The person called inside but did not receive any response and called police.

County homicide detectives assisted technicians from the Evidence Collection Unit in scouring the residence and surrounding areas.

Millstone Court was blocked off at New Disney Road with crime scene tape from 8 a.m. to about 3 p.m., according to neighbors. Many who left for work before 8 a.m. said they hadn’t seen anything out of the ordinary.

Those leaving after 8 a.m. saw an influx of police officers.

Neighbor Jeannette Ramos said she was leaving for work around 7:40 a.m. and saw a maintenance worker knocking on the front door of the home.

“He was just knocking really hard on the door,” she said.

The rear of the units on Millhouse Court face a maintenance building and its parking lot.

The Lake Village town home community has a large military presence, according to neighbors and many keep to themselves. Property management declined comment.

I was just reading about this. And what really bugs/rubs me the wrong way, is that the family is asking all family and friends not to talk about it on social media... I mean I get wanting privacy... But if someone murdered someone in my family, come hell or high water- I will have answers. And social media is a great way to find leads.

SPC (Join to see) Social media can also give you a bunch of dead ends and countless rumor mills......
Keeping it with the family and LE in a case like this is probably a good idea, especially if there are particulars about the case they don't want the public to know...

Considering the Victims background in Military Intelligence I can see a lot of folks not wanting this to be too public but I suspect that it will also increase the chances that the Perp will be quickly found and dealt with.

This murder sounds way too personal. I would look at her platoon mates, NCOs and civilian significant others including her husband (again!) That child may be the key to this homicide. That she took an oath to serve her country and wound up murdered is utterly wrong and she needs to be avenged!
