Do you think everyone here should post a profile picture before contacting you to be added to your contact list?

Yes and IMHO, it should be a real picture of you, not a meme or avatar or doppelganger or caricature or anonymous icon, you can save that for facebook.

Difficult to trust someone who chooses to stay hidden. What is the motive especially when you want to become a contact of an individual.

Looks are irrelevant. If they are seeking advice or discussion a picture will not change anything.

Going back to the original question yes. If your wanting to connect to someone why are you hiding?

It's not hiding. Why is someone's appearance relevant in the matter?

SFC Craig Dalen I don't think it's about their actual appearance. I say that because Rally Point isn't like the other social sites. I just believe it's more of a comfort knowing who you're talking with. It also helps to reconnect with familiar faces.

I understand that, my only question was simply does their comment hold less weight if you don't see what they look like?

Should a photo be required before sending a contact request?

No necessary, but it's the standard good practice for social media. I treat RP like I do for LinkedIn, want to present a good first impression.

While I believe having a photo is a good thing, and I'm not sure why anyone would object to having one, I wouldn't NOT accept a contact request solely due to not having a profile pic.

I think yes due to the fact of one big thing. MULTIPLE NAMES. I have met a lot of people in the military with the exact same name. How am i going to know if its someone i know without seeing the person.

I don't think it should be a requirement. However I believe that most are like me and would like to see who we are interacting with. It just makes it easier to identify with them.

A photo would be nice, but this isn't Facebook!

Photos are not important. Still seeking a recent photo in a suit which I can use.

OK, I'm confused. The majority of the votes are for Yes, to have pictures, but the comments are for No.

I don't need to "see" someone or know what they look like to have a discussion or to connect with someone. Goodness, how long have phones, telegraph, letters, etc. been around, and we haven't been able to "see" the person until just recently!
