I watched Wolf Blizter's situation room for the last 2 days. No time did they report other than the poltical schisms from both parties. I think that this was insensistive to the pilots, the soldiers and to our revolutionary gifted musician Prince since they had preempted show when Prince passed away. Do you agree? I am non-partisan on this.

This is an example of capitalism at its finest. CNN is a business unit within Time Warner, so they are a for-profit enterprise. They are simply reporting the stuff that will draw the most viewers and will help them make the most money. The military news probably doesn't appeal to a wide enough audience, so that's why those stories don't get much airtime. The Prince news is a footnote now. They gave his death lots of coverage when the story was fresh.

LTC Kevin B., Fox News does the same thing. They will briefly mention something beside Trump and Hillary, but their main focus every day 24-7 is politics. It gets really old.

It would be nice but realistically they have an election to try to influence. The irony is that this is a historical event in both the Navy and Air Force, that on the same day both demonstration teams had a crash, coincidentally it was both the number 6 solo jets for each team.

I am sad for the pilots and I am glad it did not happen in formation flying or it could have been a midair collision and even uglier.

LTC Stephen Conway Since you mention CNN, I visited CNN studios in Atlanta recently and had a great time. The tour of the studios is about 50-60 minutes long. After taking the longest and highest escalator ride of my life, up eight stories, all of the guests are put into a dark room with a television screen at the front of the room. I mention this because I am convinced that the people in the room are being recorded, probably for security reasons. Fredricka Whitfield sat at her chair and said nothing, initially. I waved at her and the most curious thing happened. You know how when someone tells a joke and a person tries to hold in a laugh and the micro muscles in their face start to twitch a little. Well, I could tell she was trying to hold in a laugh. The camera immediately spanned to another reporter. And I smiled. The rest of the tour was quite nice. Anyhow, I recommend it.

I bet it was a great tour. I think I went to a Journalism Museum in Washington DC 18 years ago and I think I saw some of what you saw today.

Should CNN skip politics & report on the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds crashes, Prince's Fentanlyl OD, and the dead soldiers in the flood?

CNN and the other major networks tend to focus on bad news which is shocking and titillating LTC Stephen Conway. The news needs to be something which many people would be interested in.
When this nation was more patrioticly-focused stories about the Blue Angel and Thunderbird aircraft accidents would have gotten more airplay.

To be honest, this is the thing that disgust me the most. Many people who serve today believe they should be put on a pedestal just because they served in the military. What happened to the days of when being in the service meant serving, instead of being recognized?

CNN should have a balanced approach to their show. I did see one story about the black boxes mentioned about the Egypt Air mystery but the rest was the political schism and not about our service members who died this week .

The military is not being put on a pedestal. We are not vane like some celebrities.

It is not being put on a pedestal in the 'look at me' type of way. The two pilots (one who died) both were top-notch pilots picked for their experience and risking their lives many times a week for your enjoyment.
The soldiers who died in the floods was tragic too. We know that dying is part of our job descripition.
The Challenger Shuttle explosion killed Air Force Pilots and their family could not sue the US GOV. The teacher's family sued the Sh-t out of the US Gov especially when they had reports that engineers were recommending to postpone the launch because it was too cold and the seals would not hold on the rocket booster.
What disgusts me is what I see every time I go to the store and I see the Pedestal Gossip mags showing the people we should not care about and focus on our Country and real life personal issues and successes and not dumb fatbody celebrities.
What should not be put on a pedestal is the fat Kardashians and their so-called great life of flatulence, divorce, gossip, insecurity and lameness and their weird dad Bruce Jenner, the .4% of the population with transgender bathroom issues and saying their rights need to be accomodated. The dumb Canadian and US media puts that non-issue on a pedestal and the POTUS is misguided and makes it a headline issue yet there are other issues more important too and that is why states are going to the Supreme Court to fight it.

The US military and its reserves are 1% of the US popluation and we are ready to fight and die and we want to win and we even defend even your unfair comments too.
