Personally, I don't care. Not sure how this suddenly became an expectation. Until the 70s it wasn't even expected. This tax return b.s. is a misdirect. The Clinton campaign is using it to divert attention from her foundation, pay for play, email server, mishandled sensitive documents, etc., and people are falling in line with it.
I don't care if he releases them and they say he evaded all taxes, over/underpays his employees, gives 76% to charities, or paid 92% in income tax. I won't vote for either of them.

My tax returns are nobody's business even if I decide to run for POTUS. I believe the release of tax returns is only a recent political phenomena used as a tool to gain political advantage or leverage over an opponent, with the 'what do you have to hide?' chestnut. Both DT & HC are very well off but people generally do not enter illegal income on tax returns. Releaseing personal info only gives the casual observer and political opponent fodder to produce a negative spin on the other person. If 1LT Sandy Annala Capt Seid Waddell or anyone else on this forum decided to run I would have no business in their tax returns(although they might be interesting to read)..

Very true. But why have politicians been doing it since the Nixon administration? This is not a recent development.

Absolutely! Yes. Sure. Why not? No. Ya I really don't care what the loud mouthed carnival barker does. Same for the Star Trek clad pathological liar. They both have the money to cook their books as they desire. Secretary Clinton just funnels all her assets through the scam that is the Clinton Foundation.

Truth is, I don't believe there is any federal statute requiring this activity in a presidential, election. I think it's been a matter of tradition and, most certainly, one of "oneupmanship" when it was thought that the adversary had something to hide. Why not make the candidates reveal school transcripts, medical and psychological records, divorce settlements, where would it end???

I'm very interested in policies, and the enumerated powers of government in the Constitution. I'm not at all interested in any candidate's tax returns.
