Trump has been saying that he is under an IRS Audit. With that said, if he released his returns before the Audit is complete and the Audit comes out and says he tried to cheat the government, it could look bad. That is what I understand. If he does not release them while under Audit it gives very little ammo to his opponent. Which of course is what they are going to try to do either which way.

Does Trump have a 'foundation' to channel his charitable contributions thru? I would like to hear of it! SGT (Join to see) David Reynolds

My question was should he? Clinton released hers, but would it make any sense for him to release his?

I don't understand why we really should care. He's as filthy rich as anyone can be...He'll never spend it all... Don't care about Clintons fabrication either, She's also as filthy rich as she can be... The only thing I really care about is what kind of Supreme court will I be forced to live with the rest of my life....

Who really cares? Tax returns are the least of the issues...Clinton or trump. Hell, I don't care if ANY of them release them or not. There are WAY to many more important issues than some ones returns.

I think so, but only because I like dealing with facts, not pure speculation. Until he releases them, the Democrats will speculate over and over ("he isn't as rich as he says", "he doesn't donate to veterans like he says", "he's too invested with Russia", "he doesn't pay his fair share of taxes", yadda, yadda). Just release them, deal with any fallout, and move on to better topics.

3 Reasons We Care About Politicians' Taxes
Knowing everything there is to know about someone's financials is intrusive. So how did the tradition start — and why do we care?

I saw an interview a week or two ago regarding his Income Tax. He's currently undergoing and audit, which is why (this is Trump speaking) he is unable to release them. After the audit of his income taxes, he stated that he would then release them. I'm not fully aware of what/how audits actually work for the income taxes, and I'm sure it's a case by case scenario... so unless the IRS, I would assume, states otherwise... I guess there's no real point in believing he should be held liable for not following a new, unrequired tradition.

I believe other candidates were being audited when they released theirs. It may have been Richard Nixon. I think Donald Trump does not want to release them because of what occurred when Mitt Romney released his.

That's fair. I just assumed that audits were a case by case scenario.. and he was dancing with his words when he was talking about it.. so it felt as if he was trying to imply the IRS wouldn't allow a release while he was being audited.. but the way he worked his words does make you think.
