Should homeless Veterans come before refugees? What are your thoughts on this patch?

This is America. Why can't we do both?
Seriously. We have the most resources in the world, bar none. We should be able to do both simultaneously.
It's not a lack of capability that is creating this issue. It's a lack of a plan.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy I feel the same way, but the politicians want to be politically correct and feel the need to cater to the "refugees" and illegal so that they will look good in the political world. They don't care for the 1% of us Americans who signed a blank check for the freedom that they enjoy today.

Veterans should always come first but the government doesn't seem to think so....If we can't help our own people why are we taking in refrugees ? Are we going to take people from other parts of the world and give them a house and a job whilke we have Americans that are jobless and / or homeless ?....That's NOT right !!

SSG Nick Tramontano We're too close to the issue, as Service Members and vets. It's personal, and therefore it's "more important."
But... As Americans, if we see a wrong as it applies to the tenets of Freedom, outlined in our Constitution, whatever it is, we should attempt to help, to the best of our ability. There is no "priority order" for this concept, merely a chronological order. We help, as it happens, to the best of our ability.
"If" and this is a strong "if" we were diverting resources away from helping homeless veterans to help refugees, i'd have just as much ire as everyone else. But that is NOT what is happening. The politicians had already established a "level of support" and the People had already established a "level of support" for our homeless vets. THEN the refugee situation happened. Now we are establishing a "level of support" completely independent of the first situation.
It would be as if you personally had given $20 for a homeless vet charity at the beginning of the year, and then a disaster relief charity popped up, and you decided to give $20 to them. It doesn't affect the first charity at all (this year).

I'm sure we would all agree that it SHOULD be this way, however, I'm sure we all KNOW how it will really be. More social handouts to folks who won't contribute a dime but will riot until we give in to their demands on treatment and compensation. IMO of course...

Exactly. We'll cave in to the refugees because of your self-described rioting, but the homeless vets will remain silent because they're trained to hurry up and wait!

PO1 John Miller, We won't openly complain because that is not how we were taught as professional military members and we don't have a political "Voice" to stand up for us. So we will see the much needed civilian health care go to "refugees" and the money go to fund programs to assimilate them into our communities although it is exactly the opposite that will happen.

Heck yes they and any homeless US citizen should come before refugees and illegals. We need to do a better job of taking care own.
