I'm wanting to go to SERE School I understand it's one of the hardest. I know as a 25Q the school would seem to be not something I'd do. That's my whole reason for wanting to go is to learn the real training not from a online course that really doesn't teach me. I'm a hands on learner so I would rather actually attend the school than just do the online course. I would just like advice on wether it would be something that would help or hurt my career.

I think you should go to ANY school. Civilians would be quick to over-pay for half of the experiences offered through the military. Although SERE school sucks, it is one hell of an experience. At the end of the day, the more training you have in the military, the more "marketable" you become. Go for it.

AMEN!!! If you get a chance, never turn down training or schools. You'll be networking with Special Ops types and you never know how this experience may pay off for you down the road, either in deployment or as a NCO leader. The Army is a small place, in reality and the guys you train with now will be leading brigades in a few years. Be up on your PT, land nav& field craft. BuY a Ranger handbook and read the survival chapters. Check out the following link: http://www.eseeknives.com/SERE.Manual.pdf
See if anyone on your post or in nearby units has been to the school recently and talk to them. Best wishes and thanks for your Service!!!

If the Army has a school (any school), and is willing to send you to it, you TAKE IT. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. While this seems more of a personal than professional goal, you don't know where it could take you later on in your career. SF is always looking for good Soldiers, and so are other SMU's out there. Think BIG. Shoot LONG, and don't QUIT.

SSG Warren Swan SSG it's a personal goal as well as something I may have to use one day since I'm trying to go back to a combat arms unit and from my last unit which was infantry. I want to have knowledge in case something may happen

SPC (Join to see) - I understand, but at the same time, you can rest assured that if the Army does give you this school, you could be sent to a different type of unit other than regular infantry. That's why I mentioned SF and SMU's. You should want to be proficient in everything you can, and you seem to have the right ideas, but the MSG above also nailed it. Look at the long term effects of your choices. You branch manager damn sure will if you don't. And if there's a more pertinent school that would give you more technical and tactical capabilities and fulfills the full spectrum of the Army, I'd again say take that over SERE. I was a 25B for awhile. If I could choose a school that I wanted (Airborne, Air Assault, or Pathfinder) because I might or will end up in a unit that has those, or choose a school that would allow me to be better than my peers (Sec+, A+, CISSP, CEH), I'm going to run rampant with the second group because they have more effect over the lifespan of my career than the first three which would give me immense pride, and look great on me and my ERB, but have limited translation to units not using them.

SSG Warren Swan SSG thank you for the advice I understand the army may decide the school isn't the one for me I have talked with my brand manager before and was told any schools are possible if the school is willing to take you.

SPC (Join to see) if it is offered, take it. Make yourself a better person, while receiving training. In the military, even if you are in the rear with the gear, you can find yourself in situations that your regular training haven't prepared you for. Get as many schools as you can as often as you can.
