Let the military decide. Many get them extracted the first week in training, if they need to be pulled.
Plus, its free.

The time to get your wisdom teeth extracted is when they: (1) are causing you discomfort or (2) affect the alignment of your other teeth.

Your recruiter is trying to make a quota. Hate recruiters. I was the log chief in army recrutimg support center in 1983 to 85

Should I wait to get my wisdom teeth removed until I get to basic or get it done now?

If you let the military take care of it, then you will have much better insurance to cover the expenses.

If you're going onto active duty, I'd wait until after basic training to get it done. Why incur that cost now? Why let it impact your basic? Neither of those seem like good options. If you're going into the Reserves or NG, I suppose cost drops out of the equation, but timing doesn't. I'd still wait until after you are done with all of your training.

On the one hand, in the military it’s free.

On the other hand military doctors have repeatedly fucked up shit that would get them RUINED in the civil sector (malpractice) and get away Scott-free

My 2cents: if you have insurance, get it done before you enter

I ship for basic in 3 weeks and I got my teeth removed last week. I don't want to spend any more time in TRADOC than necessary, and since I'm still under my parents insurance, the co-pays were low... Then again mine were also impacted and I had been pushing it off for awhile.

Unless there is an emergent need--the wisdom teeth are impacted and you are in pain--the Army is NOT going to remove your wisdom teeth during basic training, or AIT.
Nor do you want it done during training, it will make for a miserable week.
You may want your dentist to clarify whether they are impacted, or is he making the recommendation for removal as a preventive measure (or to get the last bit of money before you leave). If the recommendation is as a preventive, and you don't want to pay the copay, the Army will be glad to snatch all four of them out at your first duty station. If the recommendation is because you're in pain and they are impacted, you should have it done before you leave.

Basic or after...if they are hurting or affecting you now then you shouldn’t even have to ask and get it done!!

Personally, I would wait until after Basic if they do not hurt or cause you any problems. Once you are finished & go to your duty station, it is free to have them yanked! That is what I did and had all four out at once.
