Absolutely not! Reduce his rank to E nothing and hang him from the gallows.

This article on Military.com is well worth the read and should answer a lot of questions raised here.

This deserter caused the death and injury of his comrades and embarrassment to the United States in time of war, in the face of the enemy. He needs to be court martialed and executed.

No. What he did shows a lack of discipline.

No, after the men in his unit testified, he should be lined up in the same firing squad with Obasturd and Killary

He should face a firing squad of men from the units that lost people looking for him when he ran off looking for the Taliban.

Sergeant Bo Birddog is a disgrace to the Army uniform. Several good and honorable men died or were wounded while looking for that sniveling coward. He defected to the enemy during a time of war. He betrayed his squad, his unit, and everything that Warriors hold sacred. He doesn't deserve to be among the living, and certainly does not deserve a pardon.

MAJ David Wallace - Sir, most definitely. When I was in Basic (when Christ was a corporal) we had 3 draftees, all three of which went AWOL. Two turned themselves in and the third hit the 30 day mark and was considered a deserter. Everyone at the time just felt the three of them were just not cut out to be in the Army.

Some years later in Germany we had a dirtbird go AWOL, hit the 30 day mark and was re-classed as a deserter. Everybody in the platoon was pretty pissed at him and went to the CO and told him they knew where he was. The CO told us "not to worry, PVT Ray would turn himself in." and sure enough about a month later PVT Ray was arrested at the gate. The CO had known that with nothing more than his ID card his situation on the Germany economy would get desperate. He could not get a job and could not leave the country.

The CO had confined him to the barracks until his disposition could be worked out and wouldn't you know it the dirtbird went AWOL again but came back the very next day. This time the CO had the MPs take him to pre-trial confinement. He got a year in Leavenworth and a DD.

I really hate to say this...as I totally agree with you MAJ Wallace, but my biggest FEAR is he will get a "pardon" as the President walks out the door! GOD Forbid! But I am just saying, I never liked the way President Obama came out "arm-in-arm" with his mother and traded 5 Hardened Taliban Commanders for "PVT" Bo Birdshit!!!! Sorry guys, but I had to get that one off my chest! I pray I am wrong! GOD Bless you all for everything you do for this great Country! - TOP

As there has been no official judgement of guilt what's he pardoned for?

He's a stupid young man, but being stupid does not relieve one of their responsibilities, and his was to his comrades, but mostly to the oath he swore. A pardon is a slap in the face to every warrior ever to go forward into harms way.
