COL Mikel J. Burroughs SGM Matthew Quick Recently read the Stars and Stripes here in Italy, and saw on the Cover that the Army has once again changed Service Uniforms, this time they are Retroing the WW 2 era service uniform, making it the 3rd Service Uniform in the last 10 years. what are your thoughts, and the Communities thoughts regarding yet another probably expensive uniform requirement? I absolutely get that Service Members receive a clothing Allowance, but for the love of God, this is ridiculous.

It's tough on young officers and as a matter of fact it's expensive for everyone that has to buy the new Uniform. I find it tough to do (3) over a 10 year period SSG Robert Perrotto - thank goodness I'm retired. There should be a policy put in place that when a new Sergeant Major of the Army is selected they can't request a uniform change. I think it's a waste of money for the junior officers and waste for the government to switch to a whole new designed for the dress uniform. Personally I liked the Class A's and I liked the Dress Blues and the Dress Whites Dinning Out attire the best and I still have all (3) and they fit, LOL! That's just my 2 cents. I can tell you that while this going back in time may be viewed as a novelty it will wear off fast and there will be another change coming.

I have the Class "A" Uniform and the Blue service Uniform, Had I not been Medically Retired, I would still be Serving, and required to purchase the new one, if only to keep up with my peers.

SSG Robert Perrotto - Roger that - when I was E-6 I was only making $623.00 a month total - would have never been able to afford a new uniform.
